The Managing Partners of Shadow FactoryC. Jay Cox, Richard Santilena, Bob Schuck, and Scott Zimmerman – are professionals with a wealth of experience in areas key to the success of the company.

C. Jay Cox

A successful screenwriter and director only begins to describe C. Jay Cox and the resources he brings to Shadow Factory.  From production research to location coordination to post-production supervision, C. Jay has hands-on experience in every phase of the filmmaking process.  His major accomplishments include:
Award-winning writer/director of Latter Days, which has collected over a dozen audience awards at festivals ranging from Outfest Los Angeles to Mix Brazil. 
Screenwriter of Sweet Home Alabama, produced by Touchstone Pictures.  This movie holds the record for biggest September opening weekend of all time, and is Reese Witherspoon’s highest-grossing film.

  • Producer/director of Kiss the Bride, starring Tori Spelling, Joanna Cassidy, and Tess Harper. 
  • Co-writer of Chilled in Miami.  This romantic comedy features Renee Zellweger and Harry Connick, Jr., and is slated for a Holiday 2008 release.
  • Writer of projects currently in development at New Line, Universal, Paramount, and Columbia.
  • Producer and director of numerous short films, videos, and documentaries, as well as several Los Angeles theatrical productions.
  • Producer and director of various extra features on the Latter Days DVD, including music videos, deleted scenes, and a “Behind the Scenes” featurette.

C. Jay’s artistic vision combined with his passion for screenwriting, directing, and producing have made him highly sought-after throughout the entertainment industry.  His talent, experience, and knowledge provide the creative foundation for Shadow Factory.

Richard Santilena

A solid business background, coupled with entertainment project experience, allows Richard Santilena to effectively balance business requirements with the creative process.  His track record in marketing, operations, and finance includes such accomplishments as:

  • Producer of Kiss the Bride, which has been the feature selection for Opening or Closing Night Galas at film festivals in Los Angeles, Philadelphia, Tampa, New York, Hong Kong, and Sydney.
  • Creation, implementation, and management of national marketing campaigns and promotional programs for various Fortune 500 companies, including Time/Warner, Comcast, AT&T Broadband, and DIRECTV.
  • Producer and director of over 25 hours of marketing and training videos for DIRECTV.
    Producer of the C. Jay Cox short film Hell for Homosexuals, which screened at several film festivals.
  • Development and execution of a political fundraising event, which doubled projected contributions.
  • Owner of a marketing consulting company, which coordinates graphic art, print advertising, and overall strategic messaging for small businesses.

Utilizing his MBA from Loyola Marymount, Richard combines creative experience with a practical business foundation.  His expertise in production scheduling, accounting oversight, and line-item management greatly benefits Shadow Factory by providing a pragmatic, yet imaginative, perspective.


Bob Schuck

Twenty-seven years of management experience, combined with an MBA and a natural attention to detail, provide Bob Schuck with all of the elements necessary to keep Shadow Factory’s projects on-track from inception through completion.  His accomplishments include:

  • Producer of Kiss the Bride, a spring 2008 release from Regent Entertainment. 
  • Management of crews of up to one-hundred individuals, with responsibility for staffing, performance oversight, and on-going direction to achieve the overall vision.
  • Management of production, including scheduling, time-lines, and contingency planning.
    Creation and implementation of budget line-items, including detailed project break-downs and overall budget accountability.
  • Field/corporate liaison with responsibility for project coordination and execution.
  • Producer of over sixty corporate seminars and workshops, covering topics ranging from sales and marketing to training and motivation.

Bob’s proven effectiveness for managing resources and assembling a diverse team of talented individuals enables projects to reach their maximum potential, both creatively and financially.  His comprehensive management skills provide strong leadership for Shadow Factory and ensure pin point accuracy and accountability in every respect.

Scott Zimmerman

With over twenty years of entertainment industry experience, Scott Zimmerman brings an unparalleled resume to Shadow Factory.  His accomplishments in a variety of capacities include:

  • Executive Producer of Latter Days, the highest-grossing gay-themed movie of 2004, and one of TLA Releasing’s biggest-selling DVDs.
  • Agent in the motion picture department of William Morris Associates, representing (among others) actors Matt Dillon, Kurt Russell, and Marisa Tomei, and directors Quentin Tarantino and Gus Van Sant.
  • Talent Management with Untitled Entertainment and Evolution Entertainment.
  • Casting involvement with several movies influential in the growth of independent film, including Sex, Lies, and Videotape and Drugstore Cowboy.
  • Project and talent packaging of My Own Private Idaho and Pulp Fiction.    
  • Board member of the Trevor Project, the only nationwide 24-hour suicide prevention hotline for gay and questioning youth.

As an Executive Producer of Kiss the Bride, Scott was instrumental in securing two distribution offers during pre-production – successfully negotiating an unprecedented advance on a final deal with Regent Entertainment during the first week of filming.  His industry savvy and independent film credentials perfectly compliment the rest of the Shadow Factory team.
